Our client, a prestigious mid-size public accounting firm, is looking to fill an Audit and Assurance Manager role in. In addition to their office in Toronto, they are also situated in Hamilton. They provide a full range of accounting, taxation, and advisory services to mid-market businesses including business valuation, litigation support, forensic accounting, restructuring, corporate finance and mergers & acquisitions, family office services and succession planning. Position Summary:

The Manager role will lead audit and review engagements and various other client service engagements. This position is also responsible to supervise and train assurance staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, organize and complete complex audits, compilations, review engagements
  • Completion of all planning documents, and the scheduling and leadership of the planning meeting
  • Set and work within approved budgets and deadlines
  • Organize and supervise year-end audit procedures
  • Review draft financial statements and finalize
  • Prepare complex personal and corporate tax returns
  • Make recommendations to partners regarding tax planning
  • Review personal and corporate tax returns
  • Analyze corporate and personal tax assessments
  • Analyze, review and finalize the audit files for which he/she is responsible
  • Review the assembled financial statements and income tax returns
  • Clear all review points made by the partners
  • Prepare cash-flows and related analyses, when necessary
  • Review all assurance services files and special assignments
  • Supervise engagements and control the quality of the work done by other team members
  • Resolve technical problems encountered by other team members.
  • Obtain/maintain a strong understanding of clients' business and respond promptly to and be proactive to anticipate client needs
  • Train, supervise and evaluate staff and delegate work to them according to need
  • Gain appropriate level of tax knowledge, based on position
  • Maintain knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and updates

Requirements:

  • Completion of the Canadian CPA CA designation
  • Minimum of 6 years progressive experience in a public accounting practice, including working in a Manager position
  • Experience working with mid-market entrepreneurial clients is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of accounting software including Caseware/Caseview; Tax Prep, MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships
  • Organizational skills for prioritizing demands, work flow and meeting deadlines
  • Must have a strong commitment to quality
