Our client, a prestigious real estate development company, is looking to add a Junior Accountant to their team of professionals in the accounting department. It’s a large high rise real estate development organization located in downtown Toronto. BlogTO and Torontoist named our client Toronto's Top 5 developers. They specialize in Land Acquisition Development, Marketing and Sales, Building and Construction. Our client has developed 3,500 urban condominiums, with another 1,000 now under construction and several thousand in the pipeline, totaling over $2 billion in development. Their name is linked to many prestigious high rise developments in Toronto. In addition to making an impact in Toronto, they have quickly expanded to other regions of Canada, bringing state of the art designs of condominiums to many communities. Their consistent efforts and hard work has pushed the envelope or pioneered, be it in terms of urban location, high-end yet functional design, or green living. Today they are continuing that DNA, with new markets, new architectural approaches, new interior features and layouts, and new environmental measures.

Professional staff members must have at least 1 year of relevant real estate industry experience and 2 years of accounting experience. Reporting to the Controller, the candidate will be responsible for various accounting functions. Professional staff members must have a thorough understanding of accounting principles to be able to carry out work in the more complex. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full cycle AP and AR – collection reports and analysis, payments to vendors, aging report of AP/AR
  • Financial Reporting – Assisting the team with preparation of financial reports on a project basis and preparing financial packages for year-end tax purposes
  • Budget Analysis
  • Bank Reconciliations and vendor account reconciliations
  • Assembling financial packages for CA’s to file Corporate Tax Returns
  • Liase with suppliers and other contractors
  • Experience preparing biweekly payroll
  • Entering and posting invoicing in the system
  • Helping with the month end process – accruals, adjusting entries, reconciliations, ensuring all subledger and the GL accounts are up-to-date
  • Monthly Government Remittances – WSIB, HST, EHT
